The Beginning of Gangsta Rap (Continued): Ice-T – 6 ‘N THE MORNIN’
The late 80's birthed the essence of Gangsta Rap and Ice-T is named one of it's pioneers.
Ice-T is known today for playing in TV roles but his history in music is deep and developmental to what we know on the radio today. His music was so explicit, you could basically say he's one of the reasons why the music industry had to create an explicit content label for CD covers in stores. At the time, they weren't even an industry norm. 6 'N The Mornin was released as a single off Rhyme Pays in July 28, 1987. The album reached #93 on the US Billboard 200 and received Gold status by RIAA.
