The Beginning of Gangsta Rap: NWA – STRAIGHT OUTTA COMPTON
The origins of Hardcore Rap and Gangsta Rap music start in the barracks of NWA and Southern California.
Backed by the superproducer Dr. Dre and hardcore spitta Ice Cube, Niggaz Wit Attitudes is one of the most notoriously known rap groups in the US. Most notable for their pioneering of gangster aesthetics in music, one of the first bands to bring gang culture to the world by way of the massively blowing up genre, at the time known as just a sub-genre. The group includes members Dr. Dre, Ice Cube, DJ Yella, MC Ren, Arabian Prince, and Eazy-E. The group was formed and initially financially backed by Eazy-E and his label Ruthless Records. Straight Outta Compton is an album by N.W.A released in August of 1988 with a single by the same name.
