The Meta Quest 2 was released on October 13, 2020, and turns four years old next month. Meanwhile, the Meta Quest 3 was released on October 10, 2023, and turns one year old next month.

5. The Meta Quest 3 might just be worth the lighter weight on the head and neck, so you can play longer! Right now, the Quest 3 goes for around $350 used.

Realistically speaking, you don't need to buy the Quest 3S if you already have the Quest 3. Unfortunately, by looking at specs alone, the 3S would be considered a downgrade. If you already own the Quest 3, you're in good hands!

If you still, however, own the Quest 2, or no VR headset at all, the Quest 3S is looking like an intelligent purchase. Not only do you not have to fork over $500 + shipping and taxes, but you also get a smaller and lighter headset, with a few internal upgrades from the 2.

The company ByteDance launched the Pico 4 on October 18, 2022, two years after the Meta Quest 2 was released.

Unfortunately, the Pico 4 is going to be more expensive than the Meta Quest 3, but an informed audience is a prepared audience. The market is full of different headsets that provide different experiences in terms of price point and quality.
