“Just cause you don’t believe that I want to dance, don’t mean that I don’t want to.” Perfectly stated! This is one of those songs built to make you groove and call you out if you don’t. Don’t embarrass yourself and get oops’d upside the head.
Later retitled to "Oops Up Side Your Head", the song was originally called "I Don't Believe You Want to Get Up and Dance (Oops!)". Maybe it was too long originally, but both titles get straight to the point. In fact, I'd like to point out how the 70s rockstars like The Gap Band set the tone for the importance of how powerful a song title and melodic hook would be for their music. Oops Up Side Your Head is a great depiction of the energy behind how silly and goofy it must feel to sit around moping in the club or at a dance party. Get up and dance! This Funk and Disco infused track was released in 1979.
