James Brown is an incredible precursor of all things modern Black music & entertainment.

From the 1958 album Please Please Please, "Try Me" was released in December of 1958. It Charted at #1 in R&B and charted at #48 in Pop. James Brown was discovered by the founder of the band The Famous Flames later known as The Flames, who recorded their studio album together as a group. They were listed as James Brown and His Famous Flames.

In 1974, they performed this song on the African Continent in Zaire. The cover photo was shot by Michael Ochs Archive.
