D-2-C | Direct to Consumer
With Post Affect, you can create your own store and sell directly to your customers. This business model is generally referred to as D2C, DTC, or Direct-To-Consumer. The number one way to supply your audience, fans, and community, is to provide a direct channel of communication and supply and maintain your relationship with your audience, fans, and community. Businesses that offer this model provide a finished product or published piece of work at its final stage, sold directly to the buyer.
B-2-C | Business to Consumer
As mentioned in D-2-C, this business model is a direct source to your customer. There aren’t many differences, except for the explicit concept that there is no extra party involved in D-2-C, where as within the B-2-C business model, there may be an extra team involved in preparing the product for the customer. Outside of the preparation of the product, the customer shopping via B-2-C will have the same confidence in shopping with a D-2-C. B-2-C stands for Business to Consumer. Lots of businesses put many different efforts into producing for their clients, so it ultimately depends on the business owner or leadership to define whether they fall into D-2-C or B-2-C business model categories.
B-2-B | Business to Business
The very prestigious “Business-to-Business” (B-2-B) business model. Businesses that provide services or products to other businesses. We mentioned in B-2-C that there may be multiple stops that take place before the product reaches the client or customer. For these particular purposes, we will refer to companies who make extra collaborative efforts to create their product, as Business-to-Business-to-Consumer B-2-B-2-C, and we will keep this category, B-2-B, exclusive to businesses that collaborate with other businesses on a professional front. To clarify, imagine you need a business license for your industry to prove you’re legally incorporated, that way when you buy your wholesale products you can prove you are legitimate. So this makes your business’s wholesale supplier is also a legal business, in turn making the relationship between you and your wholesale supplier a B-2-B model.
B-2-B-2-C | Business to Business to Consumer
Is it hot in here, or is just these options? The first 3 have long illustrated the possibilities of business but they aren’t the only models out there to structure your operation on. Business-to-Business-to-Consumer can easily sum up a lot of today’s business. Without naming names, if you were to look into brick and mortar marketplaces in your neighborhood, you can see what defines agency between the customer and the supplier. By these simple details, if you help your client grow it’s customer base, you could consider yourself a B-2-B-2-C business model. More specifically you would have to be engaging the would-be customers for your client to make this the perfect B-2-B-2-C model, otherwise you would be a B-2-B. This model, the B-2-B-2-C model, provides service that extends two parties that are looking for each other. B-2-B-2-C models are as lucrative as B-2-B but generally can offer more of a concerted effort toward your sales, while B-2-B is usually a wholesale supply experience.
B-2-C-2-B | Business to Consumer to Business
Yeah, we took it there. Business-to-Consumer-to-Business. Examples include your favorite retail manufacturers that create affordable consumer products as well as expensive professional business equipment. Basically they take up a good portion of the market because whether you’re a hobbyist or a professional, they’ve got you covered. But that doesn’t make a business B-2-C-2-B because it leaves the consumer out of the profit equation as a producer within the relationship. So what if that company paid you? Or what exactly is an example of B-2-C-2-B? It is a growing business model and becoming more of a paved lane everyday. It’s pretty new considering the digital age of business. Business-to-Consumer-to-Business can look like affiliate marketing, where a consumer can get paid for sharing their customized link to another buyer, which in this case the buyer is another business. Lots of B-2-B companies resort to incentivizing their customers with a their own customized referral link that rewards an already paying customer with redeemable discounts or even specified freebies. A B-2-B company can provide other methods of services through intricate business models, opening up more opportunities for revenue. However you create said opportunity, all Business-to-Consumer-to-Business models reward their customer with value when they connect to another paying business as a client.
C-2-B-2-C | Consumer to Business to Consumer
Consumer-to-Business-to-Consumer gives a lot of thanks and recognition to the consumer as an integral part of the success of the company. It’s risky, but most entrepreneurship fairly is. C-2-B-2-C borrows the simplicity of B-2-C but invites the Consumer to take initiative, with a fairly bigger payout than that of B-2-C-2-B, relatively speaking. With the consumer placed in the middle of the relationship in that business model, this consumer-first style of business instead creates an important trusting relationship relying on the brand awareness that the consumer is responsible for relaying accurately, while also connecting them to that source for the costumer to then take action (spend money). The second consumer party is now satisfied by the product created from the business in between the two consumer parties. The second consumer party will generally be interested in the business party for different reasons than the first party consumer. The first party consumer is aware of the needs of the business, and is generally only involved in supplying the solution. That solution thus creates opportunity for the business to find and create it’s own customer base, which consumer party one is ideally aware of, while consumer party two generally doesn’t have any concern for consumer party one if they aren’t legally involved or considered direct collaborators. It is still of their discernment to be involved, or not, within this B-2-C-2-B business model/relationship.
B-2-C-2-C | Business to Consumer to Consumer
This business model is similar to B-2-C-2-B, except this model can be considered much easier than B-2-C-2-B from the consumer’s standpoint. Ideally, the first consumer is sharing the product with the second consumer and gets rewarded for that. This is usually easy if the product is already something highly sought after. It’s also a great technique for breaking new products in the market, because, say the product does a great job but doesn’t have a reputation due to being new — a trusted friend sharing the product within their friend group or community can help change the public perception of your product. This could grow into more opportunity for consumers that like to take initiative because the B-2-C-2-C-2-C– can go on to many many C’s (customers), making this a great option for social media influencers and social media marketing gurus. Business-to-Consumer-to-Consumer is a creative option for rewarding your customers for helping you connect your community with more supportive customers.
