Just 20 years old, DJ Quik signed a record deal with Profile Records in 1990 and recorded his album Quik is the Name, led by singles Tonite and Born and Raised in Compton. The album charted at number 10 on the US R&B charts and received platinum status selling over 50,000 copies in just the first week of it's release. If that isn't impressive, just add the fact that he's known for his eclectic talk-box skills as taught by Roger Troutman himself alongside mentorship from Funkadelic co-founder George Clinton.
