Bell Biv DeVoe is a trio from Boston, Massachussetts, originally members of the band New Edition, creating their debut album called Poison with a massive hit single of the same name. This song is likely going to be played until the end of time. The structure of it's R&B influenced New Jack Swing is so bass-fully injected and slams with Boom Bap style drums, it's a Hip-Hop-Pop-R&B phenomena. The single was released on March 6, 1990. 

It charted at #1 on Billboard's US Hot Black Singles and #1 on US Top 40/Dance. The album however peaked at #5 on Billboard 200 and #1 on Top R&B Albums chart. By May 1990, the album was certified platinum, and five years later in April 1995 was certified quadruple-Platinum.
