Willow, co-author and creator of the novel Black Shield Maiden, is one of the polymaths of our generation, navigating music, songwriting, multiple live instruments, production, and authoring fantasy genre stories. Her self-titled album WILLOW released in July of 2019 as her 3rd studio album. The album is complete with 8 tracks with one being a short interlude, and Overthinking IT being the longest song coming in at track 8 to polish the album as a complete work of art.
I'm not shocked that this is my favorite song on the album, as it offers introspective themes of self-encouragement and self-empowerment in the simplest and gentlest of ways. Thinking of doing something and executing is a simple act, whereas overthinking your ideas is just counterproductive most times. The lyrics are, to me, centered on a spiritual aspect of the human soul and interests in the material world. How one can become lost in so many options and ideals, along with expectations. She reminds you to just do what you want and worry less.
